Moving my setup to a new machine...

Hey gang...

Time to retire my old SageTV machine (Shuttle SN45G with a Athlon XP 2500+ in it) and move to a new setup that will be a combined HTPC, NAS, and light-duty personal development MySQL/Tomcat/Web and Subversion server.

The new setup will be on a AMD 4000+ X2 AM2 processor, will have the OS + Sage running off a 300GB PATA drive, and then all my other stuff and data running off a RAID5 array of 4 750GB Seagate 7200.10's. 2GB of DDR2-800 ram as well.

Now, questions:

I currently use a USB-IR transceiver and Sage 6.x. What will I need to make sure I move over to the new machine? Files? Directories? etc.? What holds the sage setup/config so I can make sure I pull that across as well? What about the USB IR Trans settings (I remember having a heck of a time getting that to work right...)

Any other gotchyas I should worry about?

I'm going from a Windows 2000 OS on the old box to Vista Ultimate 32 bit (I won an OEM copy at a marketing event and refuse to use it on my main PC's so figured this would be a good use for it...)

Also, anyone have any good suggestions for ways to pump content from my new box to a Playstation 3? I could just go with the Media Center stuff built into Vista Ultimate, but I really like having the Sage Placeshifter capability on my laptop, and being able to pump content through my Hauppauge Media MVP units to my other TV's as well...

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

There is a long FAQ that deals with moving recordings & part of it talks about changing to a new PC. I recommend NOT copying your properties files.

Your custom USB-UIRT file is in this folder:
<SageTV install folder>\Common\RemoteCodes\USB-UIRT Transceiver

This FAQ has info about where you will find some of SageTV's files in Vista. Make sure Java is updated on Vista, or your time will be off in SageTV.
