SageTV and HDHomeRun = No Signal?

I've searched the forums and have seen some threads on this but could not figure out a solution. If someone has any help, I would appreciate it.

Newb to this but have some networking experience. I purchased an HDHomerun and set it up on my network. Note: I've tested it with VLC and Vista Media Center and it works flawlessly.

However, when I try to set up with SageTv Media Center 6.2, I get all the way through the setup process but it won't find a signal.

More specifically, I set up the HDHR in Sage, it finds it, I follow all of the instructions to map the SageTV channel to the HDHR, but when I go to view it, it just comes up as "No Signal".

Note: All of the programming data is correct, I just can't view anything.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Sage and the HDHR and also tried to install on my XP computer and when that didn't work on my Vista notebook.

Interesting that when I tried to install on Vista, all I saw was weird boxes instead of letters when Sage starts up. IE - it looks like the font format is symbol or something like that. Couldn't figure out why though?

Any suggestions on the "No Signal" issue? Any help is appreciated!

I ad the same problem. There is a new beta version of the HDHR software that fixed the problem for me.

Sage would not associate the found channels from the scan with the guide listings. I had to remap the channels to get it to work.

In case anyone is having problems with their HDHR, I just spent several hours over a couple of days trying to get it to work properly.
Problems I was having include:
- No signal
- Signal but some channels were not tuning correctly
- Various other frustrations I can't remember

As it turns out the main culprit was the firewall. Once I disabled windows firewall things were much better.
I did try the beta software SiliconDust has available and had problems with the wrong channel being tuned. The error report for this release says it fixes the firewall problem. It didn't work for me and channels were tuning correctly.

So, in the end, this is what I did.
1) Disable windows firewall.
2) Follow the SiliconDust instructions for HDHR + SageTV exactly as they are stated. Except, I ended up assigning the whole x-y-z value for the physical channel. That said, I would try just using x as per the instructions. If that doesn't work then go with x-y-z. Also, used the released software and not the beta.
3) Make sure everything works in Sage.
4) Turn the firewall back on WHILE you are watching live TV on STV. Superstition on my part? Maybe. Or, maybe its just that the firewall now has a pinhole for the HDHR traffic. I haven't rebooted yet to see if the firewall remains open to this traffic. If not, then maybe I'll just leave it off.

Hope this helps save someone some time,

Mitch
