Question backup and restore

I'm upgrading my server from a PIII to a P4! Yahoo!

ok, no big deal to you but I'm excited

I read in the users' manual that I need to backup the following files:
  • wiz.bin
  • sage.properties

I'm using version 6.2. When I install on the new(er) PC, I'll be installing 6.3.x. I'm using two of the MVP/Helius extenders so I've edited my sage.properties file. I've currently installed the following customizations:
  • comskip
  • dirmon
  • channel logos
  • Malore's hidden UI features

What is the best way to ensure I don't have to reinstall or recreate my current setup on the new server? Do I just backup these files (wiz.bin and sage.properties) on a thumb drive and copy to the new Sage? It will be a dedicated, headless server.

I'm a former BTV user where upgrades were painless and quick so any help you can provide will be very much appreciated!

Thanx.

There is a long FAQ about moving recordings & so on to a new system.

You really do not want to copy sage.properties, since it contains tuner setup info & other things that are probably specific to the old system. Copying some of the properties for the customizations should work.

You may be able to copy sageclient.properties and/or some of the properties files in the clients folder, but even there be aware that you should at least check for valid file path names in those files on the new PC.

Channel logos simply go in that folder & whatever else is needed for a customization depends on that customization, of course.

I would install SageTV and get it working on the new PC, then back up the entire install folder before copying anything from the old system.
