You originally posted 1/8/08 and I think got all of us very excited. The assumption is this is a rebranded hauppauge device that is hopefully due from hauppauge in late March.

Can you whisper some sweet nothings to us regarding integration with Sage and or Sage branding and the timing there of? Are you guys actually testing such a device yet?

I think the purchase storm will match or exceed that of the extenders (which I hope is turning out as a very succesful addition to your product line.)

Actually my biggest question is how many of these things can you hook up and run to record simultaneously without worrying about overloading the USB channel, or anything else?

I've presently got 6 tuners (2 PVR-500's and an HDHR) and STILL run into conflicts.

May guest would more then 10 with HD encoder set at the highest bitrate
USB1&2 can support up to 127 devices and USB2 max speed is 480Mbps where encoder max speed is only 25Mbps

Well USB 2.0 is theoretically 480mbps, so 6 Hauppauge HD PVR's @ 25mbps (their max), is only 150mbps.

That's assuming the drivers support that many...

This device is on my Gotta Have list.

Based on what Rakesh (Snapstream CEO) told us, the test units should be in the wild with the HTPC software companies as I type this and the estimated ship date is no later than March 31.


I'm really hopeful that this device will be the ticket to my HD content access - without the need for the evil CableCard.

I cant wait to get my hands on one as well. The only downfall to the unit is going to be dealing with the STB's on screen overlays, but thats a minor price to pay for what this device is going to allow us to do!

yep, overlays and from what I read the loss of comskip for those files, but still I think peeing one's pants about describes my level of anticipation.

I'll jump on this bandwagon too. I've been pretty content with my HTPC setup for a while but with the new HD channels COX has been adding this card is quickly moving up my shopping list.

Only problem is I'm pretty sure my current system won't handle H.264 and it is probably cheaper and more convenient to get an HD extender to handle that task and move my Sage server into a closet. But that's more money for the extender and the new switch I'll need to expand my home network for the extra connection.

It's times like these I'm glad I'm not married, don't think I could afford a wife and an addiction to Sage.

Hmmmm, maybe check the forum only 15 times a day and use the time from the other 5 times to go pee? We wouldn't want to read about you in the hospital with a ruptured bladder.

You're saying "the loss of comskip for those files" only because neither comskip/Show Analyzer support H.264 presently right? As soon as one or both of them do we can have that back?

I'd sure hate to go back to manually using the skip/backskip buttons to nuke the commercials. ......BUT I will if that's what it takes, commercials are a) boring and b) time wasters keeping me from my shows!

Correct. As soon as either Comskip or SA support H264 there will be joy again. Unfortunately, I have read one post that claimed that Jere said he had no plans for H264 support so our only chance maybe comskip.
