yes, if you rip them with the menus which is an option with many dvd backup programs. Personally, I dont like to sit through the forced previews and never watch extras, so I just save the space and convenience and rip only the main movie.

That is what i assumed but before I spent the money I wanted to make sure. I have them ripped as full discs but made it possible to jump straight to the menu.

Don't forget that hard drive based DVDs need to be in the format shown in Appendix I of the SageTV PDF manual.

Yes, the VOBs. Actually you need the entire Video_TS folder with all the .bup, .ifo, and .vob files. You place the VIdeo_TS folder in a DVDname folder, and put that into the import folder.

The download page (and my sig lines) have direct links to the PDF manual, so you can check it out before installing anything. (Right click, Save Target As...)

I will point out that some (a very small percentage) of DVDs have issues with the menus (usually they are rather unique in some way). For example, I can't use the AVIA tuning DVD - it gets stuck in the menus...

My Carmen Luvana Plaything DVD doesn't fully navigate the constant horizontile and semi transparent menu. I just wasn't going to point that one out for no reason.

The movie "Cats & Dogs" has the same issue. It gets stuck on the menus, but only on the extenders, not on an actualy Sage client.

Unhappy HDD DVDS in Sage

I am a new user to Sage and thinks its great. I would like to store my DVD collection on my HDD and use Sage to play back on TVS in house. Can someone please give me the best way to do this (more detail the better but in newbie words please), and how do I get Sage to catalouge my collection once ripped (cover art, genre, etc.) onto HDD. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
