Have to press play after channel change

Hi All

I have just installed SageTV on my WHS server (with a couple of Hauppauge DVB-PCI cards). Client is on a Vista box.

I have an issue in that when I change channels I am just presented with a black screen - I have to press the play button to get it to show TV properly.

Any ideas as to what is the issue here...? Are there any logs I can look at to see what is happening? If I can get this fixed I will be placing my order and persuading the wife that SageTV is better than Vista Media Center that she is used to...

So - I also installed Client on an XP box - and that does not have this issue - so could this be a Vista Client issue?

make sure you have SP1 installed a long with Java 1.6 w/sp3.

just out of curiosity does this happen when sages changes shows (even on the same channel).

Mine does this on the server (xp). When a show finishes and it goes to the next (usually on the hour), the screen goes black but I can hear sound. I push play and I am good to go.

Someone had suggested putting the option: Always Tune to Channel as false, but it didnt change anything for me...d

Have you made any progress on this?

To be honest I have not looked into this too much - the suggestion to fix my Vista box was to install SP1 - I don't fancy doing this until it is released. All works well on XP boxes and Linux boxes.

So - this is now working. It turned out to be nothing to do with Vista.

I followed advice elsewhere on the forums to install a dedicated hard drive on the WHS box for recordings that is not part of the storage pool and this fixed all manor of performance problems including this one.

From my experiences I would suggest that using a separate drive is mandatory - it simply did not work properly until I did this. I suggest this is added to the FAQ.
