AIW 7500 + component (+MyHD)?

I was wondering if anyone had overcome the issues that I'm running in to. My HTPC video card is an ATI All-In-Wonder 7500, for which ATI does not officially support component out. I also have a MyHD card, using separate component cables. I would like (very much!) to view the AIW ouput via component in 480p (my HDTV is 4:3) and have the MyHD use it's pass-thru ability to display 1080i.

Since I have the VGA -> Component cables (purchased for MyHD), and there's some indication in the AVS forum that ALL Radeon's have the ability to ouput component, I was wondering if anyone was successfully getting component output from both cards in to one cable without using a transcoder.

Thanks!
Chris

(BTW - I think this is my first post. I recently purchased Sage and TuneItAll; now my HTPC has taken my place as the most 'intelligent' being in the house)

I can't comment on the passthrough ability of your MyHD card, but I run my AIW Radeon 7500 through a transcoder and component cables to my television set. I can output 480p or 540p timings no problem.

How's the overscan through the transcoder?

Depends on the resolution. Some are bad, but there are many custom timings you can play with using Powerstrip to get it where you like. Check out the custom timings guide under the HTPC forum at avsforum.com.

Would it be safe to assume that overscan through the transcoder at 480p would be no different than overscan through the S-video Tv out?

Is there a notable (read 'worth $100-160' for a transcoder) difference between 480i and 480p?
