Your hardware is definitely up to speed. (What CPU you running?) But I would lose XP. Although the eye candy is pretty nice, I found it to be very unstable for projects such as Sage. I would recommend a good solid Windows 2000 Pro install with SP4. If I recall correctly, the latest Nvidia drivers are 53.03. And, at last check, HaupPauge drivers are at xxx288.exe. Just my 2 cents worth, devauled 98% for inflation. As far as getting excited, I can relate! I am looking for my PVR250 package tomorrow. Already have installed a PVR350 and, after some initial wankiness, I am cooking with gas. Hope to have a 3 tuner system by the end of Jan by adding a nice HDTV card. 20 gigs per hour!! Woooo Hooo!!! I'd say your system looks good to go.
I DEFINATELY would keep XP! The Win9X's are not very stable, Windows 2000 is meant to be a "business" OS and so the 'multi-media' aspects of it are mostly add-ons. XP was designed to be Windows 2000 with FULL multi-media support and as many on this forum will agree, it works great with SageTV. -PGPfan |

Hmm,
I suppose I would disagree on the stability issues with XP. I built a XP system from scratch. Xp professional has NEVER crashed in over 6 months its been running. I have re-booted the system a few times to change configurations, add HD space, add wireless mouse and keyboard, but it has NEVER crashed or re-booted on its own. Of course I control exactly what is installed and running on that PC. Its pretty much just the minimal PVR-250 software and Sage, and ULTRAVNC for remote control. Nothing else. ECS K7S5A, 256MB DDR, Duron 1300, PVR-250, GForce 5200, XP Professional SP1... -Stan |

XP has never given me any problems either, there's no reason to dump it.

Do you have Dish or Digital cable at all?

If it was me you were asking then the answer is Yes....Shaw cable here in Canada. Motorola DCT2500 box...dunno if I can get to control that via the serial port |

There is the possibility of getting serial control but if you can't I suggest picking up a USB-UIRT
