Media Center 6.3 Interface Issues
I just upgraded from 6.2 to 6.3.5.159 and I'm having a problem with the menu system. On many of the menus the buttons disappear as I move the cursor down the page and only reappear when I move it back up. On the Detailed Setup menu I don't see anything at all except a blue box that moves with my cursor, there's no text at all. Do I need to update something else like Java? I'm running windows XP SP2, Pentium 4 2.2 GHz. 6.2 worked fine.
I would appreciate any help. Kevin |

what is your graphics card? 6.3 seems to have more 3D animations. Btw, i have P4 2.0GHz with 9550 and don't see an issue. I have also run with Sage 6.3 with both Java 6 and 6 update 3.

I have an 845G MoBo. I upgraded to a cheap ($30) 9550. The video is significantly better looking and the UI is faster. I would bet the on board gfx is the problem.
Edit: Do you have 3d acceleration enabled under detailed setup->advanced? Last edited by pez; 12-20-2007 at 11:28 AM. |

pez,
Are you referring to the detailed setup in Media Center or on my PC? I can't see anything on the detailed setup menu in MC, so I don't know. I ran dxdiag and determined that both DirectDraw and Direct3D acceleration are enabled but AGP Texture acceleration is not available with this graphics card. Is it possible to go back and reinstall 6.2? Last edited by KKnox; 12-20-2007 at 11:58 AM. |

From the SageTV main menu select Setup then Detailed Setup then Advanced.
On the left side of the Detailed Setup screen when Advanced is highlighted you will see a list of options with there current settings. The third option should be "3D Acceleration". What ever it is, set it to the opposit and see what happens. Ok, i just tried it with 3D Accerleration DISABLED, and it is slow but I don't see any artifacting. Note: the 845G is weak for 3D graphics and the video is not very good either. I would really recommend getting a |

That worked! I had to keep going back to the Setup menu and then back into the Detailed Setup menu about 10 times before I saw anything on the Detailed Setup menu. I quickly disabled the 3D Accelaration before anything could disappear and now it seems to be working OK.
Thanks! |
