Automatic Recordings?

I seem to have a lot of stuff that Auto records, even though I don't schedule them at all to record.

Is this the "Intelligent Recording" at work? Or do I have something misconfigured?

Also, how do you delete recordings thru Sage? Would it cause problems if I simply deleted the .mpg files thru the LAN?

Well, if you have intelligent recording and scheduling turned on, then yes, that is one reason why it would be recording shows without your telling it to.

Alternately, Sage will record all airings of a show you mark as a favorite.

As for how to delete the recorded shows, I don't think it will do any harm to just delete the files from where they are stored, but if you want to delete them from within Sage, then simply highlight the recording, hit options (the yellow button on the Hauppauge remote, right click on the mouse, ctrl-o on the keyboard, however you have it mapped on your interface device of choice) and a menu will pop up from which you can select to delete the recording.

Awesome... Thanx Bob...

I do like the concept of "Intelligent Recording". But I am enough of a control freak to want to actually schedule the recording myself.

Might be a good option for 2.0.. Rather then auto-schedule/record the recording, simply create a list that can be checked by the user...

A list that can be checked by the user already exists in the 1.4 version. Just set the "scheduler_export_file=MySchedulerExportFile" in the properties file. You can use any valid file name you want. The programs listed with false in both the ManualRecord and Favorite fields are what the "Intelligent Recording" would record if turned on. I used this to get a list of my Recordings. I have to edit out those lines to see what should actually be recorded.

If you just want to look at what Sage is going to record, just go into "Recording Schedule" and mark anything you don't want it to record as "Don't Like." By doing this, and watching stuff/favorites/manual recordings, Sage learns what you like and gets much smarter with it's IR recordings.

Another thing you might be running into:
Sage records all the LiveTV you watch and it shows up in the Sage Recordings list. If you watch LiveTV and don't put Sage to sleep it will record everything on that channel until you stop it or it has to record a Favorite/Manual Recording. This gets a lot of new users too.
