R5000-HD

In the price range at least some of you are talking about, why not take a look at the R5000-HD.

I've had mine for a month now and am very pleased with it.

I look forward to that as well.

They are working on a DirectShow plug-in that will allow SageTV to see the R5000-HD as a tuner. Do not know when that will be available. I will post an inquiry on AVSforum though.

I'd be all over it if I didn't live in an apartment building.

You know by law, they can not prevent you from installing a satellite dish. I had to go toe to toe with my Condo Assoc, and they had to back down.

For apartment renters, that's only if you have a private balcony (which faces the right direction).

Good point. Maybe you can move to a unit on the "right side" of the building .

Speaking of which. I had a friend moving into a realy nice upscale apartment, who was asked if he prefers Sat or Cable. Sat was his answer. They put him in the North side of the building. There were 2 open apartments on the south side. He questioned them and they told him they would refund his money. When he questioned the south side apartments he was told the rent had went up and he could have this for an additional $100/month because of all the landscaping being/planning on being done.

So they can't stop you from using a sat dish if you already have a south facing apartment but it looks like the new trick is to put sat owners on the north side of the buildings so you can't have that "ugly" dish.

True story.

so remember, always say Cable is better, then after you move in...
