Records duplicate shows
Right now, I'm running 1.2.5b and am very, very happy. The playback lockup is gone which occured with 1.2.4b and all is well with the sound sync. Great job, guys!
I have a question about Favorites. This is something that's happened to me even with the released versions. It seems that if you mark the Daily Show on Comedy Central, for example, it will record all airings of the same day's show (at 11pm, 10am and 5:30pm). This also occurs with Will & Grace on WB-11 and WB-19 in PA/NY/NJ area. It seems that if I watch the episode or even keep SageTV running (and not in Sleep mode), it won't record it again. But if I don't watch it and it is recorded, it will record all instances of the same show. The manual says that it won't record the same show twice after being watched. Is there a way that you can modify that to include shows recorded? Thanks, Lauren Last edited by laurenglenn; 04-10-2003 at 08:41 PM. |

I'm going to assume you have the Daily Show marked to record 'First Run' only as a Favorite. There are some problems (and it's out of our hands) if the show doesn't uniquely identify their First Runs. Some shows will use the same program ID over and over again and they won't give a unique description. Since SageTV handles Favorites based on what "Episode" you watch, it can't decipher Episodes if they don't give us the data.
Another example of this is Punk'd on MTV. I set it as a Favorite and had to remove it because MTV doesn't update their program descriptions so SageTV was not able to tell which episodes I've watched. With regards to Will & Grace, is it actually recording the same episode twice or is it listed in the Scheduled recordings more than once? Sometimes an episode will be listed more than once in the Scheduled Recordings list until it get's that episode recorded and saved. Dan

For some shows there's another instance that occurs. I know the example for the Simpsons happens to me sometimes, and there's probably one for Will & Grace, but it's dependent upon the channel you're watching.
Sometimes a 'generic' episode is used if there's no specific information about it. For the Simpsons, it says "Home and Marge Simpsons raise Bart, Lisa and Maggie." That doesn't refer to any specific episode of the Simpsons so the rule described by Dan can also apply to only certain airings of a show. Make sense?

In a way, it's better to have 3 recordings of the same show than to not have any... Keep up the great work, guys! Lauren |
