I just got my 10ft cables yesterday from monoprice. Great quality and no issues...granted, my sets only support 1080i.

Glad I still have my "Gold Member" status with them

Mine have a larger size (smaller AWG #) conductor and by the description should be a higher quality that the 28awg mentioned earlier. However, they do not have the ferrite cores. Wonder if I added clip-ons from radio shack (do they still sell that stuff)...

1080i is getting up/down jitters from time to time. Have to cycle through Video Out to clear it up. I'm going to try an "800" or better rated Monster cable next week to see if that makes a difference.

here's another issue... when skipping back using the skip1/2 buttons the HD100 jumps back then FF's to almost the same point where I hit the skip button. SD recordings don't do this only HD.

I finally got some time with my HD Extender today and played several HD recordings from various networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, TBS) and used all of the various FF/RW/Skip options and didn't see that issue.

I'm assuming you did the firmware update? All my HD recordings were done with an HD Homerun.

I did have several times where the HD extender just stopped playing a video going to a blank screen. Pressing play started the video back up right where it had stopped. This will take some more research to see if it's an issue with a recording, network issue, or ???

I am also having these sparkles. Let me know if a new HDMI cable fixes it for you. I'm thinking about just switching over to component.

Andy, the pausing fixes the problem for me. I assume that changing the setting that you refer to above will just force a 1000 milisecond? delay?

Pretty much -- it prevents you from having playback too close to the point of the recording still being written.

This can't be it.. can it guys? I mean, I can't play back .wmv files without audio. I can't play back MKV files because the picture is all messed up. It freezes occasionally with playback of just about any file, and I find myself resetting the extender frequently. The remote is an absolute piece of crap. Please tell me at least, this thing will have future patches.. because right now I am about to throw this thing out the window... both of them. I couldn't even get one of them to update firmware because it keeps saying there is no internet connection. Phew.... can I please just get one of those extenders used in the review.. those seemed to have worked.

Mo

I have the same problem. My current HD extender issues are:
1. Strange skip back behavior as mentioned above, but in addition sometime the audio will drop out and the video will pause a few seconds later and I have to skip back again to get everything going
2. Files with DTS do not get decoded into 2-channel audio by the extender (DD does)
3. Problems playing 1080p mkv files
4. Sometimes for no reason the info OSD will pop up and not go away unless I use the remote to close it
5. IR reception is poor (Planning to drill out a hole as mentioned earlier)

This thing is so close to being perfect for my family, maybe a bios update will fix these issues.

Can you elaborate on #3?

Just a little, I am new to h.264 and mkv file format. I have 3 1080p h.264 mkv files that will play but everything gets pixelated/blocky and it stutters often. I have one file in 720p format (with DTS) that plays ok with no audio and response is very slow when pausing/skipping forward/back.

That's weird.. some of my movies play back DTS fine. It actually sounds pretty gosh darn good! I forgot what a good soundtrack is like.

Ahh, that explains one of my issues. Thanks.

I tried another 720p mkv last night and it would totally lock up the extender after playing for a few minutes.

Wouldn't it just do a pass-thru on the audio track instead of trying to decode it?

It is supposed to pass through on digital out and hdmi? Your receiver/processor would have to do the decoding.

Anything been done about this yet? I've got the newest firmware as of a few days ago.

The last update has done nothing for any of my issues, but has introduced a new one, #4. Here is a list of problems, listed from highest annoyance to lowest:

1. Strange skip back behavior as mentioned above, but in addition sometimes the audio will drop out and the video will pause a few seconds later and I have to skip back again (or pause) to get everything going
2. Problems playing 1080p mkv files
3. Sometimes for no reason the info OSD will pop up and not go away unless I use the remote to close it
4. Sometimes when skipping forward the extender will power off.
