Share Client License on Dual-Boot XP/Vista
As I try to adopt Vista as my default workstation OS, I find that I am routinely dual-booting between XP and Vista on my two office workstations.
Both of them dual-boot XP and Vista, and depending on what is going on, I could be in either OS on either machine. Is there any way to share the license between the two OS's, or do I technically need 4 licenses? These OS's always have the E: drive (a physical drive) in common, and typically I will install "share-able" apps to E:\Program Files, providing they aren't heavily registry-reliant (Filezilla is a good example). Is there any way to do something like this with SageClient so they will share the license? Last edited by sixdoubleo; 11-25-2007 at 09:59 PM. |

Don't know the answer, but if not, you may want to invest in a Placeshifter license and save yourself a headache

I have 2 placeshifter/mvp licenses. I am watching HD and need the full client.

I suggest sending the question to support to ask how use of the client license with multiple OS installations on a single system would be dealt with.

I do this. It works fine. Install as normal Sage on BOTH OS's. As long as you use the same license on XP and Vista, and that both Vista and XP use the same IP address, Sage server thinks they are the same client license wise, and everything works fine. It was almost like Sage designed the license scheme to work well for dual boot.
thx mike
