5.1 Channel AAC Audio On MVP
I've submitted a bug report on this.
In 6.3 it doesn't properly transcode 5.1 channel AAC audio to AC3 for the MVP. It attempts to but ends up scrambling all the channels. I hope they look into it. I know the primary focus of this beta is probably HD extender support though. |

Hmm. I seem to still be having this problem with the latest version. Is it supposed to be fixed?

No, this is still an issue. Use faad and eac3to to convert the audio to AC3.

Or set your HD-PVR to record the audio in AC3 with the 1.053 drivers and the settings in Arcsoft TME.

Thanks, but a bit confused
I confirmed that I get 5.1 on the clear QAM recordings by opening up the Ac3 filter interface on zoom player. I can see all the separate channels moving up and down. But when I transcode to "MPEG4 Good Quality Deinterlaced", and watch the clip with zoom, I see that I am mostly getting the front left channel only.
Are you saying that if I encode the video with those drivers that the 5.1 will be retained in the converted avi? Thanks |

I would think if the audio is originally AC3 it wouldn't have to transcode it at all.

yea, if there is a way you can convert it without doing the audio or converting the audio to stereo.

Thats a good idea, but I am using the built-in sage 6.x convertor with the "auto-compress" plug-in and I don't see any options to control how the MPEG2 files get transcoded (i just get to choose which type and quality level I want to use)
