newbie

I just found out about sageTV....I am a direct tv customer....can sage tv work with Direct tv...if it can what additional Soft/hardware do i nedd

Yup, it will work fine with DirecTV, you'll need a couple things:

TV "tuner" card (you won't be using the tuner, but you can't really get any without).
DirecTV box
A way for the PC to control the DirecTV box. The most common way is to use an IR blaster, I believe certain Hauppauge cards come with supported blasters, or the USB-UIRT is another great option. With DirecTV, a third option is to use serial control, you'll have to search the forum a bit to find more about that.

The one limitation is that you won't be able to record HD in HD.
