Recording Buffer for Network Encoder?
I set up a network encoder today. Works good except for one problem:
In SageTV, if I'm completely caught up to Live TV, there is a regular freeze or stutter in the video (obviously, only in shows using the network encoder source). However, if I pause for just a few seconds, and then watch from there, no problem. Clearly the network encoder can't stream fast enough for SageTV. Futhermore, even before this, when running the client on a different machine, there has always been a brief period of choppiness (say, 5 seconds), and then everything is smooth. In my opinion, these seem to be problems that could easily be solved if there was a user configurable buffer between live recording and the earlist Sage can view it. Even 2 extra seconds would probably help me. I searched in here quite a bit and there is conflicting information on some registry settings that are available. Specifically, Jeff says this: "You can change the buffer sizes at the following registry location: HKLM\Software\Frey Technologies\Common\DShowFilters\MpegDeMux" http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...ghlight=buffer But more recently, he says this: "And I do NOT recommend changing the demux buffer settings. Changing them will quite often cause the problem you're describing if its not done right." http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...ghlight=buffer Anyone have a definitive answer on this? Or another solution? Thanks. |
