h.264 playback sutter after OS reinstall

Ok, I just reinstalled my 3 sage server/clients due to a rash of unrelated bad luck. Before the reinstalls, I had sage working to play h.264 content from my r5000hd. Since the reinstalls, all three machines exhibit the exact same problem. h.264 plays, but it plays about .5 sec paused for .5 sec and the plays again, over and over. CPU util is never above 20% (which in itself is a bit odd as they ran closer to 50% before reinstalls).

h.264 plays fine via Cyberlink's player and via windows media player. It does not matter if the file I'm playing is local or over the network, and sage isn't recording anything while I'm playing the files. I installed WinXP SP2, ran all windows updates, installed cyberlink, xvid, sage 6.2.10, ultravnc, and nvidia dvd codec on all machines. Thats about it. They're still pretty vanilla.

My understanding is that with 6.2 I shouldn't have to jump through as many hoops to get this to work as I did in previous versions. I must be missing something?

stuttering r5000 h.264 streams

Just for grins.
Use regedit to modify
Frey Technologies\Common\DSFilters\MpegDeMux\NumBuffers

change the default (40) to 80.

That did it for me with r5000-hd h.264 streams stuttering as you describe.
