Question XP MEDIA orphan needs new media mommy

Hi. My computer (VIAO desktop) came with XP Media. It caused crashes and I had my computer reformatted from scratch with XP Pro. Now, of course, I miss my DVR and TV watching ability. Can I install SageTV, using the card still still in my computer, and make it work again?

My VIAO model # is PCV-RZ40CG

My computer works great now. No more crashes, but I want my TV and dvr back. Any thoughts, suggestions, help?

Thank you so much.

I don't see any specifications on the page so I don't know what type of tuner card it has. I would assume since it came with MCE that it probably is compatible with SageTV. You could install the trial and give it a go. If it doesn't work just uninstall.

I'm just a little curious why you installed XP Pro on there rather than using the restore set to put MCE back on there?

I DID do a reset... and a reinstall... the guy at the repair place said MCE was buggy. He must have been right, since I have not had any problems since then.

It may have been all the garbage software Sony loads on their computers rather than the OS itself.
