Closed Caption on MVP
I have already search and found answer to about CC on MVP where I have to use an addon to covert CC to SMI subtitle file before it can playback by MVP.
My question is that are CC not possible on MVP becasue of a hardware limitation or it could be added in SageTV software to support CC in MVP? Just wondering if it was hardware limitation or SageTV never added CC support on software end for MVPs. If it the software thing and can be added then how do I submit a feature request for it on the new upcoming HDTV MVP devices because being deaf that I depend greatly on CCs and I am watching for the soon to be release HDTV MVPs and so is several of my deaf friends. I understand your feelings about no CC support on the MVP. I too am deaf and cannot get much use out of the MVP as I too am forced to watch live TV and or use my wireless headsets. It makes everyone in my house upset when I use them because they claim they don't even need to have the regular speakers on, because they can hear the sound thru my headset. :-) . It was my understanding that the reason for no CC is because the hardware limitation of the MVP and/or my Hauppauge 150/250. We can only hope that someone can find a way to get it working and provide an easy install process. Here's to still waiting since V2. :-( P.S. I finally posted Yipeee. I read the forums several times a week and have used virtually every beta to come around. I have a deadhead server along with 4 PC clients along with a MVP client. My family would kill me if I took Sage away. LOL Carl |

Carl, just to make sure, you are aware that there is a workaround to get CC on the MVP?
The Hauppauge 150 and 250 can record CC into the mpeg file, which can be used by any of the PC clients for "live tv". The MVP would need to watch only recorded TV to get CC. By extracting the CC into an .smi file, you could then watch captioning onthe MVP with a plugin.

PC client can view those CC on live TV?
So instead of a MVP I can just put together a micro-atx type of computer and run pc client off of it? But doesn't MVP only display what is coming from the DVR software ie SageTV and isn't it software end that determine if the CC will show on screen or not from the SageTV server? I just assumed that SageTV programmer never gotten around supporting CC on their SageTV MVP software thinking it wouldn't be highly demanded. Bill |

With the CC plugin, the MVP is getting the .smi file data from the server, and displaying it along iwth the video.
