Using Hauppauge 350 Remote with Client on Laptop?

I have a notebook (thinkpad t40) with a built-in IR receiver and the client software installed. I have the 350 installed on the desktop with the 1.4 installed.

Is there anyway to use the Hauppauge remote when using the client with the laptop?
