Problem with trial period
Whenever I try to launch SageTV I get a stack overflow error from java. Does that mean the trial period has expired? That seems hard to believe but it isn't as though I marked anything on my calendar. I had just managed to get SageTV to do anything useful at all in the previous day or so with my Creative Labs DVCR. Before I could only get various error messages. I had just pointed it at some folders that had a lot of video files in them and was pleased that it managed to play quite a few and kept its place in all of them.
Now I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and Java 1.4 and I keep getting that belated error message. It's not the sort of thing that inspires me to spend $60 in the hopes that the software will get less cranky. I have Creative's software installed and working (yes, I had to quit it in order to get Sage software to work previously, as I would expect) and also FusionHDTV installed and working. I also recently installed an XCard but that was all before trying SageTV. |

I doubt very much this is related to the time on your trial. I bought Sage several versions ago so I can't say how sage handles a trial ending now. But when I bought it it would just go thru the startup process and then end the task, no errors generated.
When you tried the reinstall did you delete the old "Frey Technologies" directory? If not you should, this would not get around your trial being over but it would get rid of any past intall problems. As for the error you should post the log file and if no one here can help you soon. You should contact Frey with a support request.
