Better PQ from new system?

This seems strange to me. I upgraded my motherboard and cpu in my server. I had an old Slot A Athlon 850 that I gave to my Fiancee's mother and got a new 2.4GHz Celeron w/ on-board LAN, Audio, and Video (Intel Extreme).

Anyway, when I got the new system up and running the first thing I noticed is markedly better PQ. Since my client system hasn't changed at all and I am using the same 250 cards in the server, this doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. Anyone have any clue how this could be possible? Less interference from the new MB?

ps. As an added bonus, the new MB has 6 pci slots. Having room for more 250s can never be a bad thing.

That's really odd, but I noticed the same thing in reverse. I had originally put together my sagetv with a brand name pc which will remain nameless to protect the innocent, and then moved it to a home brew without changing anything but the motherboard/proc/ram and the picture quality was immensly different. I ended up putting it back in the name brand pc because the quality was so much better. Now, the name brand was quite a bit faster than the no-name, so it may very well have something to do with it, but as I said before, everything stayed the same that should have mattered (hard drive, video card, tuner card.)

Odd...

2 things...

Are you using newer Hauppauge drivers? Newer drivers typically (but not always) result in better quality encoding.

It is not clear, has the video card (or drivers) used in these systems changed? Obviously that could have a huge difference in PQ.

I'm using the same Hauppauge drivers. The video card and drivers changed on the server but nothing on the client has changed. Very curious.

I had to upgrade to an ATX12V power supply when I switched motherboards. Could there have been a power problem in the old system? You'd think you would have all kinds of problems if that were the case, though...

While that is about the only explanation that makes any sense at all, it still seems like a long shot.
