Nope, don't agree. I guess any business owner can make any decision they want in order to increase demand for their supply, but a pure capitalist wouldn't try to factor any such rules as "fairness to customer" into their sales. Their job is to sell their goods at a profit as quickly as they can so they can reinvest their funds and make more profit. If I can sell 100 apples to the first buyer, why should I wait and sell 1 apple to 100 people?

Now, if I can inflate the price because demand increases, that's a different story...

If I'm one of the 99, then I got my extender, but I'm pissed at Sage (I hope they are reading this). Its bad for future business (so it can still be capitalism to limit the initial sales).

My point is, what if those 99 customers don't show up? If I can sell my goods immediately, that gives me more capital to produce more goods to sell at a fair price to future customers sooner.

A bird in the hand, as it were.

Not trying to make moral judgements, nor am I trying to advise Sage on what theire marketing strategy should be; just making an observation.

I don't think that there will be a supply issue. As someone else already pointed out, this is a niche market even if not to those who visit this forum. I'm just excited to see pictures of the actual thing. I'll just buy one at first to see how it works. If I have to wait a bit to get my hands on one, well, I've been waiting this long, so what's another month or so...I can't afford any 3rd party markups . I hope that it gives Sage a good return, so if someone wants to buy the entire stock on release, more power to 'em. I'm sure they wouldn't be very popular with us early adopters and have trouble selling them anyway .

Anyone speculate if WiFi-G could support HD programming? Or would we need WiFi-N? Talking about a single stream to one extender right now.

I wouldn't try G. Heck, I wouldn't try N unless there's no other option.

With near-perfect wireless reception I max out at about 2400 kilobytes/sec with 802.11G. That's pretty close to working with HD, but not quite. After moving into an apartment with tons of Wifi APs (and no available wifi channels to myself) I couldn't even get standard definition TV to work all the time.

So, if I had to guess, I would think wireless-N would work reasonably well if there's not much interference. Even though wireless-N will use the 5Ghz band, I still think you still need a pretty free 2.4 GHz band to get full performance, since it will use both bands at the same time. But, certainly a wired network is your safest bet. Are there even any wireless-N bridges out there yet?
