HD Homerun and problem with Timeshifting
I am having problems when I timeshift on a HDHR channel. Viewing LiveTV is fine on the HDHR channel, as well as playing back a recording from that channel. The problem is when I timeshift backwards, say, 30 seconds, the video will pause about 3 out of every 4 timeshifts and sit there until I hit the skip forward or backward button again. It nearly always pauses when I skip back to the current spot in the timeline, and I have to hit the play button several times to get it to respond.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might fix this? Everything else is working fine, and so far I have tried changing recording qualities and mpeg2 decoder, to no avail. Anyone else getting this with the most current version of Sage and HDHR drivers? |

I also have this issue. I have had this timeline problem since the beginning of using HDHR. I had thought that switching to BDA rather than network encoder (using HDHR manager) would help the timeline issues, but this same behavior still occurs (among other issues).
To add to this: Using showanalyzer to mark commercials works fairly well on HDHR recorded material. However, when the skip actually occurs while watching, the show will lockup after the skip until I press skip back (5 sec. skip back). Playback will resume as normal. This is repeatable.

Thanks for sounding off... I'll give you a little bit of info on my setup and see if we can draw any parallels (since it must be working properly for some folks, or I'd see more about it on these forums.)
I have a Nvidia 8600gts running PowerDVD codecs and a Dual Core Intel chip with 1GB RAM. After looking into the recording, it appears to be recorded properly, so I immediately was assuming it was something to do with the playback end. I am going to try a few of the properties and registry tweaks I saw mentioned in some other threads (network stream or something similar and another true/false flag I can't remember at the moment.) In the meantime, has anyone had this issue and been able to solve it? It has something to do with playback of the HDHR recorded content, but I can't figure it out. This is the first version of HDHR I have installed, so I have never had a previous version of Sage or a previous firmware/software of HDHR to compare it to. |

I have Gigabyte 8500GT, Gigabyte P965-DS3 mobo, Intel E4300 (o/c to 2.4GHz), 2GB PC667 Ram, Sage 6.2.10, HDHR 20070914, PowerDVD 7 codec.
I am going to perform the registry tweaks, and mess with the settings as in the other threads, and will report results.

I am sorry to report that none of the suggestions fixed the timeshifting problem. I can reproduce it almost every single time, by doing one 30-second timeshift backwards in a livetv viewing session from a HDHR HD channel. It will back up, start to play the stream, and the video will lock up. Then the sound will play for a few seconds, then that locks up to. Nothing will then happen whatsoever until I fast forward or rewind again. There is nothing wrong with the recorded content, because when I do get it to resume by hitting the Rewind key a couple of times, it plays smoothly.
Can someone from Sage please comment on this? I would file a big report, but it only occurs in HDHR recorded content, and it doesn't occur in the same spot everytime. It is certainly a Sage playback issue with HDHR recorded streams. Anyone have any further information? |

Same here. Exactly as you describe... what do we do next?

This probably doesn't help much, but I'm not seeing the problems you guys are describing. I have been able to pause, skip forward/backward, and com-skip HDHR recordings with no problems. I'm posting my specs in case you notice anything that stands out. Feel free to ask any questions I may have overlooked.
Server: Gigabyte GA-M61P-S3 m/b w/onboard GeForce 6150; Athlon 64-X2 4000+ (Brisbane); 1GB (2x512) Crucial DDR2-667 RAM; 4x250GB Samsung SATA2 HDD in RAID5 array on Highpoint 2310 PCIe; 80GB Seagate SATA2 system drive; Hauppauge PVR250; Hauppauge PVR500MCE; HDHomerun 20070916beta1 drivers, connected to server over GbE; Windows XP SP2; SageTV 6.2.10 running in service mode; ShowAnalyzer 0.9.1; DirMon2 v0.6.3; Java 1.6.0_02. HD Client: Abit AN8 (nForce 4) m/b; Athlon 64-X2 3800+ (Manchester); 2GB (2x1G) Corsair DDR-400 RAM; eVGA GeForce 6600GS PCIe (passive-cooled); onboard Realtek ALC658 5.1 audio via daughtercard; 2x80GB Samsung SATA HDD mirrored by onboard nvRAID; connected to same GbE switch as Server and HDHR; Windows XP SP2; SageTV Client 6.2.10; nVidia PureVideo Gold v1.02-196 (for MPEG-2); ffdshow v20060522 (for MPEG-4); Java 1.6.0_02. SD Client: Hauppauge MediaMVP (non-wireless). Not able to play back recordings from the HDHR at all (SD or HD). The source for my HDHR is QAM from Comcast in Minneapolis, MN. This is the first version where I've gotten the HDHR to work at all. I tried installing it with 6.1 and various 6.2 betas, but wasn't able to get Sage to see the HDHR and didn't have time to mess with it back then. |
