Copy media to function shows all of server directories

Please let me know why this is happening.

When you go into PS media center menu and go select the copy media to library function, it shows the entire contents of every drive on the server, not the ps client. My friend wanted to move photos from her laptop to the sage server, and was aghast when she was tooling around my servers c drive thinking it was hers. Whats up with that? seems like a security issue, no? She's 2500 miles away looking at my junk. well at lest rustling thru the drawers anyway.

Why does it not properly point to her hard drive to copy from? Ok, i guess that could be a security issue too, but it would only go to an import directory that is set up. Why even have that option on PS if you cant upload? i don't see the utility of moving stuff from one dir on the server to an import dir. not very useful to me.

Is this WAD or a bug?

Thanks, Tom

The PS UI runs entirely on the server. Only the screen updates are remoted to the client. So anything you do happens on the server by definition.

By default (and by design) PS gives you full admin control over your server. The only security is the PS user password; once past that, you can do anything. The idea is that PS is meant for your own personal use while on the road. There is no built-in concept of limited user access. For that you would have to create a custom STV that omits all the server admin functions, and assign that STV to specific PS users.

Thanks, Greg.

I wanted an easy way to share video I shoot on my camcorder and figured PS was an easy way to stream a high level output than rendering 500mb to 5mb to fit over email.

I might consider that idea of an stv, I would like to try my hand at it since I haven't coded much in years.

Thanks again.
