Question Music Playlist UI Slow

Hi folks,

I have a few playlists created with WMP 11 that Sage has successfully imported. I'd say there's probably 10 of them which vary in size from 10 to 3000 songs.

Recently, navigating around the music section is *painfully* slow. Just moving the cursor around can take 10 seconds for each move.

Navigating elsewhere in Sage is as good as it's been in the past...but music is just awful.

Is anyone else seeing this? Does this area need to be optimized, or am I the only one having problems?

Thanks for any help!

So nobody's got this issue but me?

The SageMC theme, by the way, is MUCH faster...but I don't like some of the menus in SageMC. So I'm kinda stuck.

I like the video menus in the default better than in SageMC, but the music navigation is so awful in the default that I have to switch to SageMC.

Any thoughts on this?

Exactly what part is slow?

How many music files are imported? Perhaps try increasing the Java heap size, mentioned in this post.

How large are your album art images? Is the art very large & the images are on some other PC on your network?

Doing anything in the music section is incredibly slow...doesn't matter if something is playing or not, it takes forever just to navigate around to the point where I can play a song or playlist. Super slow response times starting/stopping/FF/RW too.

There's probably around 5k songs. Not really sure the exact number. Images are pulled using WMP11...Sage seems to pick them up. Ironically, I can't even find where these are stored...so I'm not sure how large they are.

Thanks for the link to the Java post, I'll check it out later!

WMP creates hidden jpg files in the same directory where the music files are located.

If 3D acceleration is enabled, see what happens when you disable it.

Do you have any customizations installed? If so, try disabling them all.

Maybe you should enable debug logging, because I don't know why the entire music browser would be that slow. Perhaps support would see some issue in the log.

5000 songs shouldn't be an issue.
