XP 1080i overscan problem

Guys, I'm still trying to get a Sony HDTV set up correctly. I want the output to be 1080i. Sage and TV playback look great.

Problem is, when I shut down SageTV, the desktop is overscaned badly. I can't see much of the icons on the left of the screen, and the bar at the bottom is 95% hidden. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Oh, video is the NVIDIA GeForce 6150. Like I said, SageTV and HDTV playback are perfect!

Have you heard of / tried PowerStrip? Its a shareware app that lets you tweak your video settings, typically providing far more control than your standard video card driver. It should let you adjust for overscan compensation. Once you get that setup correctly for your desktop, go back into Sage and re-adjust the overscan settings there.

Edit: I forgot to ask - how do you have your PC connected to your TV? Component, DVI, HDMI, VGA?

The nvidia drivers support underscanning, which basically embeds a lesser resolution in the 1080i signal, so instead of 1920 × 1080 you would have something like 1800 x 1000. You should be able to find the underscan/overscan settings in the geforce settings where you set the other tv settings like using a 1080i signal.

Once you do this you'll probably have to redo your aspect ratios in SageTV to add back some overscan.
