Folder Sync for imported videos
Hi Guys,
I need some help as I can't quite figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have a pc dedicated to sage tv recordings and a pc that holds all my media files. My problem is this. I spent almost 3 hours importing all my video's through my media pc, setting up categories, improting descriptions and imdb images. I finally had everything setup perfectly, went to bed, turned of my media pc (not the dedicated sage pc) and when I turned on my media pc the next morning and went to sage to view my movies everything was in an unassigned folder again. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening. I was assuming sage had a built in database that would remember all the categories but for some reason I'm thinking I may have did something wrong. For those who have 2 pc's one dedicated recording box and one that has all the media files (that doesn't stay on 24x7) what are you doing to keep all your categories setup. Thanks in advance |

There is a setting in the options menu of video imports that allows for grouping all videos or preserving original folders. The option is "folder display style" - you want it set to "separate". This will make sage display the videos in the original folder structure.
I'm not sure about all your meta data thought - you might have a browse through the customizations section, there some that help import that. Hope this helps, Matt |

Actually the problem isn't with the folder structure.
It's with the imdb lookups. Again, box a stores the movies box b is the dedicated box hooked up to my tv on box b, when I process a imdb lookup on movies located on box a, all goes well.. The movies are categorized and a thumbnail is created for the movie, viewable on box b the problem is when I reboot box A, all the thumbnails remain, but I loose the movie description and categories for each video (all now reside in the unsassigned folder) I'm sure there is a simple fix to store the video info, I'm just not quite there. Thanks |

I have an idea what may help you. The cover's stay because they are jpg files in the directory, but the show info will be removed if the file location moves. Under the detail settings, customize there is an option to regularly rescan the library folders. I think if you turn that off and only scan when the other server is present and you want to add new files, it may keep your imdb data...
