Something that reads EDL and cuts
without re-encoding.
I am looking for a free mpeg editor that will just read a recording and cut using the edl file from showanalyzer. Something besides Videoredo, ie free. Anyone have any suggestions?

There is a tool called Comclean
It uses a freeware mpeg editor from here: http://mpgtx.sourceforge.net/ It doesn't work with .edl files but it can use the .txt files generated by showanalyzer or comskip. You can read more about it here: http://www.kaashoek.com/comskip/ Last edited by gexi; 09-09-2007 at 09:31 AM. |

Thanks, I had tried that before, only issue is my txt files don't seem to be as accurate as the edl.

Mencoder uses edl to cut and not encode avi files.
example mencoder c:\sagetv\satrtrek.avi -edl c:\sagetv\statrek.edl -oac copy -ovc copy -o c:\sagetv\statrek_cut.avi it can also cut mpg mencoder c:\sagetv\satrtrek.mpg -edl c:\sagetv\statrek.edl -oac copy -ovc copy -of mpeg -o c:\sagetv\statrek_cut.mpg

It looks like this program with this option (9 = Cut and Copy (This will use an edl file to only cut out commercials) might work with edl files:

Well, Evil Pengiun's SageMC_Video_Tools includes a drag and drop batch file that was easier enough to use.

Bleh, I would do this myself if show analyzer was much more accurate. 90-95% still means I'd cut out part of the show.
It seems to particularly hate naruto's third commercial break!. I have to go back pretty much every episode.
