PVR350 and OSD on TVOut in the beta?

I haven't installed the beta yet, so I was hoping someone had and knew the answer... is the OSD working on the TVout of the 350 in the 2.0 beta?

Thanks,
MP

2.0 is not yet in public beta, so no one knows for sure yet. Of course, there's probably some private beta testers who would have information, but I'd assume they're under NDA.

I see there is now another application that supports the PVR350's tv out. It also claims to support full OSD on the tv out. Read the post about it at http://www.shspvr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3933

It appears to be free.

Does this software allow for multiple tuners, conflict resolution, and Intelegent Recording? I've never used XMLTV...how does it compare to SageTV native guide?

I may switch depending on these answers.

Thanks,
Deadbolt

XMLTV, basically limits you to Showname/Channel/Time, while with the native data you get firstrun/rerun, actors, episode name, description (if those are available). The IR seems to work a little better with the native data, but it, multiple tuners, and conflict resolution work fine with XMLTV data. I think the latest XMLTV plugin even supports multiple lineups.

Deadbolt, this software was written by me. It does support multiple tuners. It still early days, and doesn't have conflict resolution and Intelligent recording yet but its on my to do list. Screen shots available at http://www.gbpvr.com/preview.html. All the menus and OSD are available on the TV out of the PVR350.

I started this project about three or four months ago, not long before Frey confirmed SageTV would definitly implement OSD for the PVR350. The thinking in my mind was - If theres no software out there that gives my OSD on my PVR350, I'll have to write my own.

Any plans for a network client or network encoders?

Yep, and theres already an early preview of my MVP client included. This isn't a very good place for talk about my software. If anyone has further questions, visit me over at http://www.gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi

Is it STABLE!?!?

I am one of those folks with a PVR 350 card who could not care less about the OSD working on the 350 "for Demo purposes." It is now clear to me, after reading the posts, that the blue screening, system freezes, and sage crashes have much more to do with the current sage software and the TV out on the 350 then they have to do with my configuration.

My Question is simply:

Is the PVR 350 Output truly stable in the new release?

DEFINITION
stable : means I can fast forward, rewind, leave my computer on for a week, allow other users to command the system, switch between live tv and recorded tv with no CRASHING, FREEZING, OR LOCKING UP

Thanks
roco

<sorry for the frustration>

roco,
I too had stability problems (on my client, not the server) like you mention -- after changing to sonic drivers from hauppauge the problems almost completely went away.

roco, I find my SageTV setup crashes often with the PVR350 decoder in use - particularly if I have software decoding disabled. Hopefully many of these problems are resolved in 2.0

so........ would anyone from sage like to comment?

There are many posts here all about the same thing. Would anyone from sage like to comment on this stability issue and whether it is fixed in Version 2?

Roco could you define what you call a crash? While it has been a while since I was able to use my 350 (due to incompatablity with my 250's), I don't recall seeing anything like a crash except when installing the drivers. I have seen the system hangs which seem to go away after reformatting the disk to 64K clusters. What size clusters is your disk currently formatted at? I also saw the problem with using the FF too quickly. Do you use the FF1 which is defaulted to give a 150 second skip. There should not be a need to use FF that often, just use it a little slower. It would also be useful for you to state the driver version you are using. I would recommend you use the latest from the Hauppauge site. I currently have the parts in transit to build a new computer, so I should know more about the current problems with the 350 next week.

crash =

itself

current Haupage drivers from site + Windows standard Fat32 format + FF past commercials (are you really telling me that fast forward doesn't work in this release?) = computer reboots

FF does work but is sensitive to rapid use. FF2 in combination with FF is best for skipping commercials. 1 FF2 is 15 FF actions. Fat32? Which version of windows are you using? I would think that Fat32 has too many file size restrictions for use with SageTV. NTFS would be much better. However, I don't recall the max file sizes that Fat32 supports. It may be that you are using an older underpowered computer which may be compounding the known issues with the 350 card. While recording does not use much CPU the viewing can require quite a bit.
