What is SageTV for Windows Home Server
I use SageTVClient for my workstations but now I'm confused as to the difference between:
SageTV for Windows and SageTV for Windows Home Server It used to be that we would just use the SageTVClient and SageTV. Do I not need SageTV for windows anymore if I have a server and I just use SageTVClient and SageTV for windows home server? Thanks, Mike |

"Windows Home Server" is a new operating system from Microsoft.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Home_Server So it's only relevant if you're using that OS.

Okay - so in general one with a "home server" will most likely have 10 or fewer computers so why go with this instead of say XP Pro? I realize that XP Pro is not really considered a server OS but for a peer to peer network it seems to do the job. Just curious - would you go with the windows home network or do you think pc clients hooked to either XP Pro, a linux box or 2003 server would be better? I've used XP Pro as my file server and overall it seems to work great.
Thanks, Mike |

Windows Home Server you will be able to purchase from OEMs and possibly on its own. WHS gives you the capability of using different size and any number of drives in a raid-like configuration. (but not raid) WHS can also back up all the PCs on your home network. If you don't own WHS or participated in the WHS beta don't worry about it.

This is confirmed, OEM versions are already available for purchase in Europe and Australia/NZ, and are expected to hit here in the US early September.
