decoder that makes use of AVIVO hardware
I just built a new system using an abit fatality f-190HD mobo which has the ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 Chipset and integrated ATI Radeon X700-based graphics engine built in. This supports HDMI output at 1080i. I have done a clean install of Sage 6.2 and am currenty running the Sage decoder. I want to purchase a decoder that takes full advantage of the AVIVO technology in the on board graphics. Scowering this and other sites it appears that CyberLink decoder may be my best bet. But if I go to the CyberLink web site there are a million and 1 products. All I want is the video decoder that will make best use of my hardware with Sage, I don't need any other functionality. I am reluctant to purchase anything because I cannot tell from their site what will use my hardware. Any suggestions? Thanx.

For the OP, I think you can download one of the trial Powerdvd. The decoder might work after the trial period. |

Catalyst software also includes the ATI MPEG2 decoder that also uses avivo. I know all this because if I make changes in the CCC settings for avivo, it is reflected in the behavior of sage video playback. Are you on XP or on Vista? And which version drivers are you using? Also, for powerdvd, if you don't care ablout blu-ray etc..., but just MPEG2, the OEM version of PowerDVD 7 works fine in terms of being used as a codec for sage. You can get this off Ebay for under $5, and if you bought a DVD burner or drive lately, it may come bundled with the drive. Thanks, Mike |

Did you go to the link in question? It's for a specific Cyberlink h.264 decoder, that's the one I said wouldn't work on mpeg. It's not a link to powerdvd.
