6.2, DVB-S and CAM - Is it of any use in North America ?
First, a little about my thought process ... I am getting ready to take the HD plunge (if we could only get that variable resolution MVP .... ), so I am thinking about sources.
Given that both Dish (in the US) and Bell ExpressVu (in Canada) use DVB-S to transmit their signal, does the support within Sage for DVB-S with a conditional access module (CAM) mean that we could use this to capture content with a legitimate subscription, using a legitimate access card ? The R-5000 option is the only other solution right now, so I was thinking before buying into that modification, I would see how DVB-S will work for NA customers. Or is DVB-S mainly for European users ? Please excuse my ignorance ... and thank you your patience. |

R-5000 is your only option you can do right now,
[rant] I hope Bell would listen & reason with us about getting a CAM module to work with PC's (legally) I would give my left nut if they did. The current access cards are secure enough (206 cards) there is a market here, but they want to control everything, instead of increase the bottom line. [/rant]
