HVR 1600 Analog picture quality

Hi guys,

So, seeing that Circuit City still has a deal on the HVR1600 and the fact that I'd like a second HD tuner, I may just go for this. But, before purchasing, I'll have to pull out either a PVR 250 or PVR 150 card to free up a slot.. I think...

Has anyone compared the Analog tuner's quality over standard coax against the PVR 250, or the 150? I really feel that my PVR 250's look fuzzier than my PVR 150, however, to be fair, the PVR 150 is using an S Video source from satellite instead of the coax from Comcast.

Just curious if I should expect a better, similar, or worse picture for the analog tuner.

Thanks!
-Jay

I replaced both of my PVR250s with 2 HVR-1600s. I don't use the analog tuners, just the analog composite inputs with cable boxes. I can tell you that I think the encoders are a bit better than the 250s.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, samgreco. I purchased a card yesterday at CircuitCity and would agree that it's at least as good, if not a slight bit better than the PVR 250's, as far as analog video quality is concerned.

Thanks again... loving the new HVR 1600. I'm still on 6.2.4, so I haven't tried out the QAM capabilities yet. Comcast encrypts practically everything, anyway.
