MVP connected to 16x9 Set
After a brief search of the forums here it seems like the MVP when running with sage flat out doesn't support the 4 video aspect ratios (Source, Fill, 4x3, 16x9).
Is that correct? Has anyone found a way around this? I like the MVP so far - great picture on my 26" widescreen CRT in the bedroom. Unfortunately, everything is basically in 'Fill' mode. This works quite well for HD channels (transcoding rocks!), but all the 4x3 channels have wide and short people on them! I don't like the solution of fixing this on the TV (which I can via it's various aspect ratios) because that makes the Sage UI extend past the edges of the screen. btl.

Anybody? Anything?
I sure hope the HD extender, if it ever comes out, isn't crippled in regards to Aspect Ratio's like the MVP is........ btl.

That's what the overscan correction controls under Detailed Setup are for. SDTV images (such as those output by the MVP) are supposed to be slightly bigger than your screen, so you must adjust the size of the Sage UI to fit within your actual screen boundaries.

Understood - but then I have to change the aspect ratio manually on the TV as I switch between wide and 4x3 shows. That's a pain, especially for the wife who doesn't bother with that kind of thing.
On the full client the autoaspect import does all that for me.

I'm not sure what all playback functions the MVP supports but it's my understanding that it's quite limited. I'm still on an SDTV so I'm not affected by it as much. My only problem is that wide H.264 MOV files don't playback at the proper aspect ratio.
The MPEG playback on the MVP can apparently playback either fullscreen or widescreen for the case of wide DVD's for an SDTV. I don't have an HDTV so I don't know personally whether the MVP can pillarbox a video, but it sounds like it can't. |

What happens if you set everything to source?

FYI, the MVP doesn't have those options.
