Missed Recordings
Hello!
I'm sure that this may be a duplicate, but I tried to do due diligence by searching the forums first, and didn't find much useful. Maybe I didn't search for the right keywords. The problem I'm having is that Sage (running 6.1.9.135) is missing recordings. I set shows as favorites, and I can see upcoming shows if I look at "upcoming episodes" (or whatever it's called), but Sage never schedules them for recording. No, it's not just picking up an alternative recording -- it just skips them. My recording machine is a fully patched Windows XP SP2 box. I'm running SageTV as a service. I have two PVR-500 dual-tuner cards in the machine. I can watch all of the tuners manually. I don't *think* it's a hardware problem. Many shows record fine; I can't figure out what's different about the shows that don't get recorded. I know that they're missing because I can see them in the program guide. If I set them to manual record, they record. It's just that adding them as favorites doesn't record them. For instance, I just looked at air dates for the cartoon The Oblongs. There's an upcoming episode on Monday at 1pm. None of my other tuners are busy at 1pm as far as I can tell. Now, despite being set as a favorite set to record First Runs & Reruns, Sage isn't scheduling this recording. This happens to all kinds of favorite shows, and I can't find rhyme nor reason to which shows get recorded and which don't. I don't know if it's relevant, but I have about 30 shows set up as favorites. Is there maybe a bug when you have too many favorites? I hope this isn't something stupid I'm doing wrong, but I'm a pretty technically literate guy, and I can't see anything (aside from program bugs) that could be causing this. Hopefully one of you will have a hint as to where I can look next. Thanks in advance! Last edited by prothe113; 08-03-2007 at 12:13 PM. |

Let's see if I can post this before Opus does:

So maybe the problem is that these missed recordings are flagged as Watched; for Robot Chicken, after I "Clear all Watched Status" on past/current airings, a "missed" recording showed up.
I guess I am just a little confused, because I assumed that setting the favorite options to "First Runs and Reruns" would include watched shows. Now I see that that's not true Thanks for your help! |

When they play a rerun of an old Andy Griffith show, for example, it is definitely a rerun, but you may or may not have that episode marked as Watched in SageTV. And, First Run doesn't always mean the very first airing; it is used as the status of an episode for its first series of airings, since some shows are aired repeatedly over the course of a week or so. - Andy

What would be incredibly useful is if there were somewhere in the Sage interface where I could see why a show isn't going to be recorded. If nothing else, it would soothe my paranoia that my setup is missing shows for no reason -- I could look at an upcoming episode and see "ahh, it's flagged as watched."
I guess this information is present in the interface, but it's just not really very obvious or well consolidated, which led me to my current post |

An episode that you have watched shoudl be shown in italics and have a 'W' icon on it or in the info area at the top of the screen.
