H.264 AVIs half fixed in 6.2.5.
6.2.5 fixed the audio sync problem in H.264 AVIs.
But Sage still plays these videos with the wrong aspect ratio. (when Sage is set up to use SageTVPlayer) If I play the same videos with MPlayer, the aspect ratio is correct. Which leads me to believe that Sage simply disregards the aspect information contained in the AVI headers. Last edited by Patilan; 09-08-2007 at 10:45 AM. Reason: clarity |

Submit a bug report for both of those and it'll get resolved. If you know where to upload a test clip to; then do that as well for the H.264 aspect ratio problem.

Yes, I did submit a bug report.
Now, I played a little more with various such videos... It looks like Sage displays these videos as "square" pixels. Interestingly, when I drag-drop a H.264 AVI on top of SageTVPlayer.exe, it plays it with the correct aspect! So Sage is maybe not communicating correctly with SageTVPlayer about the aspect ratio information. Last edited by Patilan; 09-08-2007 at 10:50 AM. |

Here is one clip in both mpeg2 format and in H.264 in AVI format.

I see that the problem still remains in V6.2.6 Beta: Sage still disregards the aspect ratio information from the AVI headers.

I'm sorry to say this, but the bug is still here in V6.2.7.
I filed a bug report back in V6.2.5, and: At 01:59 PM 8/13/2007, <xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > I'm pretty sure I know what it is. So, why is it still not fixed? Did it turn out to be something more complicated than what you thought it was? Thanks. Last edited by Narflex; 08-30-2007 at 09:42 AM. Reason: Email address in post |

I just encoded a home video into H.264 using TMPGEnc XPress 4. Nero plays the file just fine but in Sage I get garbled video. The screen is mostly gray with some flashes on the top few lines. The audio is OK.
Is this a problem with Sage or am I doing something wrong during encoding? I've just started running a few encoding tests to figure out the best settings but so far nothing plays in Sage. I'm using 6.2.7 RC. I've tried playing the files on an MVP and on a Client.

The bug is still here in V6.2.8!
Any hope on the horizon? |

It's on our todo list; but it won't make it into V6.2. We'll be fixing it for V6.3 though.

Can I ask what codec your using for playback of H.264 AVIs.

I've set up Sage to use the so called SageTVPlayer.exe. (a.k.a.: MPlayer)
It's a swiss army knife of a video player. Lean and mean, it used to do the job perfectly for any video I've ever encountered, until some bug crept in here in one of these Sage betas. |
