you're lucky. a lot of us have HD content and/or entire channels blocked by the evil copy protect/copy once flag on our firewire STBs. At least I do, I can't even get NBC in the clear over firewire, stupid SF Bay Area Comcast.

For me, since most of what I get is off DirecTV and I can't live without a streaming PVR solution, I've decided to live with only getting true HD off my HDHomeRun for the major networks and watch psuedo, down-converted HD for everything else (i.e. HBO HD, TNT HD, etc.). I came from ReplayTV, so not being able to stream content between TVs around the house is NOT an option.

DirecTV is about to go live with their 100 HD channels in September so I've recently swapped all my boxes to the MPEG4 variety in anticipation. There's always hope that Nextcom or someone else might come up with a mod for MPEG4 STB's in the future. Right now, there is simply no solution for capturing the new channels in HD.

If DirecTV does one day allow Multi Room Viewing with their STB's, which is rumored, I would chuck SageTV I'm afraid.

I only have about 5 decent HD channels that I would watch on a regular basis so I simply use my dedicated hassle free PVR from the satellite company for HD and Sage for all my SD, of which there is much more content. Having HD through Sage is not a big deal for me therefor I've decided to bypass the issue entirely and given in to the evil satellite provide and use their own PVR...

When SD becomes obsolete I fear Sage could become obsolete
