Help me select a remote

I need help selecting a good remote for my needs.

For my main system I have an awesome remote (Harmony 720) that does a GREAT job.

BUT...
I need a universal remote that will control a Hauppauge Media Extender AND control the power function on my TV. I simply need it to do all the things the Hauppauge does plus turn off the tv.

This remote should have rubber buttons, the touch screen and plastic buttons dont work as well as the cheaper rubber ones (just like those on the hauppauge). Also, It should be CHEAP. It need not have any type of display or any other type of "extra" features.

A One-for-all remote like this might do the trick.

How did you program your 720 for controlling MCE or Sage? And did it come with an IR receiver for the computer?

When I setup the computer a year or so ago I purchased a Microsoft MCE remote (I used to use MS MCE as my PVR). I didn't need to setup anything, the MCE remote just plain worked with SageTV perfectly.

Since I used to use a Microsoft remote prior to buying the 720. I told the 720 that I was using a Microsoft MCE remote and that it should emulate that (it had the codes for it). I continued to use the IR reciever that came with the MS MCE remote, this took me a total of 5 minutes to set up. I never needed Girder, in truth I don't see the need for it everything "just works".

You can do the same thing for the MVP, but just tell the Harmony to use the default SageTV settings in the database. They are the Hauppauge remote by default. At least they were when I setup my Harmony for SageTV.

Then add your TV and you should be set.

Do you use this with an extender? Does the 8910 have codes for the MVP remote in it's database?

Thanks,
mike
