New DISH Source with Cable

I have an MCE v2 remote and I have 2 tuners, PVR-500 attached to Cable TV. one PVR-1600 attached to OTA HDTV and the svideo input is attached to the DISH. I have the input selected to SVID and i see sognal.... the question is...

Can I have Cable TV on 2 tuners and PVR IR control of the DISH for the 3rd? does it all have to be IR controled? or can I have both

should I use the Hauppugage IR or the MCE v2 IR blasting?

how do I tell SageTV the I need IR TUNER CONTROL: in the Source Details page for that tuner?

Any starting ideas?

You can have some sources use an external receiver w/IR control & others use the onboard tuner w/o IR blasting.

SageTV should be able to use the Hauppauge blaster to control 1 STB, but you need to configure the blaster using the Hauppauge tools.

SageTV cannot directly use the MCE blaster, so you would have to use another tools for that. I think there is some info about that in the sticky topics at the top of this forum.

When you configure a new source, you will tell it whether it should be using an external receiver w/IR blaster control.

the Haup software does not see the IR cable plugged into the PVR-1600.. ill try plugging it into the other card, PVR-500 when I get home to see if it sees it there

PVR-500 does not have an IR connector on the card, they are sold as MCE cards, and were designed to use a separate MCE IR blaster/receiver.

The issue with the 1600 not picking up the IR is a known driver issue. Basically the first Hauppauge card to initialize will "claim" use of the IR port in the driver software, even it the card doesn't actually have an IR port.

YOu may be able to re-order the cards in the PCI slots to get the 1600 to come up first, or else there are scripts posted on the forum to let you reload the cards in the order you want so tht the IR port actually gets enabled on a IR-equipped card.
