Sound Glitch -- mp4 and avi
The sound glitch occurs with mp4 and avi. They play fine, however, when paused then restarted -- it emits a very loud screetching or static sound. If I change the position in the video (say back 10, 20, 30...) it will correct itself and sound will normalize.
I couldnt find a thread discussing this so that would be my first question: 1. Is there a more appropriate place for this discussion? 2. Anyone have ideas for a fix. Appreciate any help as this is hitting WAF a bit. thnx, gk |

I'm having this issue as well. I still haven't figured out what's causing it.

I suddenly had solid screeching/screeching sound when I tried out some different decoders (WinDVD and Arcsoft) in addition to my already installed Nvidia Purevideo & Cyberlink 7.3 decoders.
I believe it was the additional audio decoders playing havoc with my installed AC3filter which I was using. I uninstalled the extra test software, and the screeching stopped It is worth checking which decoders/filters have the highest merit 'priority' via DSFmgr (a directshow filter displayer) Make sure what decoders and filters you have set in Sage has the highest merit in DSFmgr, essentially forcing windows to use the filters that you want. Has this problem suddenly started ? And you have changed nothing ? Some audio decoders will perform better than others. AC3filter is good, I use it. Worth trying ffdshow too, all in in one tool, but make sure you know how to enable/disable the bits you want. Worth reinstalling whatever audio decoder you were using and reinstalling it too. I have learnt from exp that you can't keep adding decoders and filters and expect windows/sage to be happy. Just install and use the ones you want. |
