No StubDevice

I have rtfm'ed till my eyes are bleeding and the search button here is prob. tired of me hitting on it lol.
I am trying to setup sagetv to control a stb using the ir blaster output of my mce usb device. Doing my best to follow/understand the how-to at http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=146080
First forgive me i'm a linux user (not a programer) and a long time mythtv user. I bought sagetv for windows because of comskip and that plus analog cable work great for me on both my tuner cards (pvr150 and pvr250).
Ok back to the ir blaster ... i can't get passed step 1 ... i copy the EXETuner dll to the stated path (and every other path i can think of including c:\system32) and no matter the registry edits Plugin StubDevice does not show up under source details at all.I have tried restarting sagetv many many times and rebooting the whole pc a few times also.
I see the the how-to thread and other posts i'm not alone and they eather get no responce or i'm not understanding it at all.
please help

Well i got it ... whats not posted is you have to setup a new video source to see the external tuning option not whats said in the how-to's.
Also i see folks here asking why their imported videos only have sound and a black screen and those questions go unanswered also ... but i will its a lack of codecs and a very easy and cheap way to get them is install nero. Heres a link to a copy for $4.99 ... way cheap http://www.surpluscomputers.com/stor...&item=SWW12252
Also a few tips for the newbies from what i have learned the hard way.
Use windows XP (sorry except for my HTPC we are a linux household)
Say you have a 300gb drive ... i used maxtors maxblast version 3 (note version 4 and newer does not support drives other than maxtor) to zero the drive ... under utility's there is a quick zero drive option after thats done install win XPee and use 'c' to create a partition do not use the whole drive i used 40gb and left the other 260gb just hanging then selected the 40gb partition and went on with the install when i booted into winblows for the first time i installed the drivers first .... just the drivers none of that other crap then went into control panel > admin tools > Computer Management > disk Management > and righted clicked on the unpartitioned space and created a ntfs .... make 100% sure you select 64k instead of the default. Next i installed SP2 .... not from the update site i stay away from there no telling what update boo boo you might run into lol. I get it here > http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Yep its the Network Installation Package ... i just burned it to a cd-r.
After thats done install nero and at the end of the nero install (note on the nero install pop up when you first put the cd in only install nero the top option only) there are 3 check boxes ... uncheck all 3 .... now install sagetv and set it up .
Couple of other things i do .... one is not to run anti virus or anti spyware programs i log in via samba and use clamav to scan the HTPC box over my lan i'm sure it can be done from a winblows box also. I use my HTPC as a set top box not as a personal computer ... remote only no keyboard, mouse,or monitor.
I also use clamav to scan any files before i copy them to the HTPC. Second i turn off all unused services and i use a pci sound card and a pci network card instead of onboard crap that use cpu resources that i want running sagetv instead of doing it all in software ... and yes it made a difference.
I moved from mythtv to sagetv (zap2it long story lol) and so far i'm very happy with the program itself although to me it looks like its not finished .... very limited ir blaster support unless you buy specific hardware or go jump through a bunch of hoops. Also the lack of support ... no 800 number to call just play email tag or post here and maybe get a response. I can understand community support on open source/free software but not something you pay for. The community is a great part of it but shouldn't be all of it. And your not gonna win new customers over with fourm threads about how a 5 year old can do it but my dad can't .... this scares people and sends a message that we are snobs and if you can't do this your stupid.
off soap box

the box said use windows98 or better ... so i installed linux

Almost forgot in the above install example on the 260gb 64k cluster ... drive "E" for me before installing sagetv i created 4 folders there and set all of the for file sharing. tv - pictures - video - music ... and during the sagetv install i changed the path of everything from default to the new locations.

If people know the answer, chances are you'll get a response. But if you don't, just contact support. I think you'll find this in the FAQs.

No, it sends that message to you. Don't make assumptions for everyone else. Perhaps you have a list of topics we are allowed to discuss?

Yep it sends that message to me and maybe I'm alone in taking it that way if i am I'm sorry.
"chances are you'll get a response" Well i disagree with you on this one after wearing out the search button here and seeing lots of single post questions that didn't get a response.
I will say this sagetv is by far the best win32 program i have ever seen by a long long way could it be better yes but so could i in a lot of ways. All i can compare it to is mythtv and feature for feature its as good/better than mythtv and what my eyes see on recorded tv is better. I can't say its as or more stable because I've only had it running a few days. Was it worth the money ... hell yes.

You forgot the first part of that quote, "if people know the answer". This is a user-to-user forum, so if the people that happen across a particular thread know the answer, then you've got a chance to get a response. Otherwise, then you have to go about getting official support from Sage.

Well, you're obviously wrong, just look at the last 24 hours and you'll just see a handful of posts without a response, the vast majority get a response. So "chances are" you will, although of course the poster's attitude and the obscurity of the problem both affect responses, as do use of minority OSes and rare hardware.
