Nvidia DualTV noise reduction

I helped a friend put together a DVR system & we just recently upgraded his PVR-150 to an Nvidia DualTV tuner. He's running WinXP Home & installed the latest DualTV drivers from Nvidia's website, but there's no way to adjust noise reduction & it looks like the noise reduction is off (some of the lower channels have a little snow.) Even with graphedit there's no option for noise reduction. Anybody with WinXP Home or Pro that's able to adjust noise reduction?

I don't think anyone has found out how to adjust the card settings outside of MCE.

I'm surprised at that. So many people using Sage with the Dualtv aren't getting noise reduction. It sounds like a lot of people don't like noise reduction so maybe that isn't a bad thing. My cable & my friend's cable get a little snow on the lower channels & I find that with noise reduction set on medium the picture quality doesn't get distorted & looks quite a bit cleaner.

I've been playing with Vista Media Center a little & I kind of like it. So far I've added Comskip, My Movies, & Radiotime. I still like Sage better overall, but the picture quality with the Dualtv with noise reduction looks better than my vcr tuner & almost as good as our cable box. I'm really impressed with the Dualtv. Would it be possible for Sage to add a plugin that controls the Dualtv picture settings like MCE has?

I know that Sage can control the color calibration settings of the DualTV since around 6.0.19 (edit: actually 6.0.15). Is noise reduction not controllable? IF not, send in a feature request for it.

Does it actually noise reduce the recording itself, or is it during playback?

I believe it is supposed to upon recording.

I guess that would be ideal as less noise = easier to compress.

I know purevideo has a post processing noise reduction filter you can enable, but i've never tried it. I imagine the results would be comparable, if not better.

Not for me it isn't. The post process seems to just blur it up.
