NVidia 8400GS Success

So I grew tired of the somewhat sporadic behaviour I as getting from the 2400PRO that I had in my client. I sent it back to newegg and ordered this 8400GS:

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814125069

It arrived this morning, so I popped it in my client machine.

So far so good - It's working as well as the 8500GT in my server. I'm using the exact same settings on the client (same driver, same OS (Vista Bz), VMR9, the old NVIDIA Purevideo decoder).

I'm very pleased so far - this is best I've gotten HD looking on this machine. For $59.99 I think this card can't be beat.

I'm a fan of my 2400pro. Yes it took some work to get it working with mpeg2 acceleration, but it works great now. Glad you are having good luck. Did you turn on IVTC?

I did get the 2400PRO working more or less- but what bugged me was that for what I watch (broadcast HD and normal DVD) it was using so much GPU processor to decode the mpeg2. Probably a driver issue. The only way I was really able to get good results was overclocking the 2400 PRO so that the GPU was running faster. That didn't sit well with me, so I decided to try the 8400.

IVTC is inverse telecine? If so yes it is on on the 8400GS. Never found a setting for that in the 2400pro.
