digital channels

I just switched to directv from dish... and I have to use an antenna hooked to my directv box to get the CW. Not bad so far, but here's the rub.

Channel 19 (WHOI) is ABC they also own
Channel 19-2 which is CW

Only my normal locals show in the guide. Not the digital stuff (19-1, 19-2, 25-1, etc). How would I go about adding those channels to the lineup and changing to them?

Gee. Thanks for moving this somewhere obscure and little seen. I'm SURE I'll get an answer NOW.

What makes you feel like you should be special & just post where ever you feel like? The point of your question seems to be about adding channels to the EPG lineup, so it got put where it belongs -- exactly where you should have known to post it in the first place, since you've been here long enough. I can understand someone new to the forum not understanding the layout here, but you've been here for over 2 years.

Not sure if you got it fixed or not. But a couple possibilites for you.

I did a little searching and got that you are in Peoria, Ill, or thereabouts. The digital antenna lineup does show the digital channels, and the DirecTV lineup only shows the analogs. Does your directv stb have a digital OTA receiver inside it? If not, then you'd never get the digital OTA signal out of the stb and would need to add an digital OTA tuner card. If it does have an digital OTA receiver, then you need to get the directv peoria lineup updated to show the digital locals.

To do that, you need to contact Sage and/or zap2it to have them get the correct data available to you.

In the Sage FAQ thread, there is
Quote:
thisQ: My Program Guide is listing incorrect info for some channels and/or shows. I am using the built-in data which comes from Zap2It. Is there some way to see about getting this fixed?

A: You can let SageTV know about EPG problems so that they can ask Zap2It to correct it.

Email them at info@sagetv.com. Along with the details of what is wrong, include:

Your Service Provider (i.e. Comcast, DirecTV, etc)
Your Specific Lineup (Chicago-Digital, Chicago-Digital Rebuild, etc)
Your Zip Code
And on the Zap2it website, http://www.zap2it.com/services/site/...,6935396.story there is this:
Quote:
Send general comments to feedback@zap2it.com. Please keep e-mails short, concise, and to the point; and make the "Subject:" lines relevant. We will try to answer e-mails in a timely manner, but at times we get overwhelmed and may take longer to respond. Feedback is not handled over the weekends.

If you wish to report a cable or satellite lineup discrepancy: please fill-in the "Subject:" line as "Lineup Discrepancy," and include the following information or your request will not be processed:
Cable System Name (please copy exactly from our list of providers)
Specific Description of Problem (channels missing or incorrect, program data incorrect, date/time of specific occurrence, etc.)
Provider Phone Number
Provider Service (cable, satellite)
Apartment or Hotel Complex Name (if applicable)
City
State or Province (and country if outside of the United States)
Zip or Postal Code

Thanks. That was far more helpful. I'll contact zap2it. I'd hate to have to buy another tuner just for one channel but that's kind of what I was eyeballing if it comes to that.

thought of one possible way to make this all work on one tuner. May work, or may not.

If your directv stb has both s-video and composite, and both connection output the tuned channel simultaniously, and your tuner card has the same connections, you could hook the stb to 2 ports on your tuner.

Use your OTA digital lineup for one connection, and either the "generic" directv lineup, or your peoria directv lineup (with the locals disabled). If you can set it up so that both connections use the same IR blaster code, or serial tuning (however you have it set), then it should work.

Basically what would happen is that if you wanted to tune a local channel, then Sage would send a signal to the STB to tune the channel and would capture it from connection 1. Then, if you wanted to tune a directv channel, Sage would send a signal to the STB to tune the channel and would capture it from connection 2. The reason for two connections, is so you can run multiple lineups on 1 source. Sage would treat it as 2 sources connected to 1 capture card, and it knows to only use 1 source at a time. The fact that both sources are the really the same shouldn't matter if you can get the channel changing set correctly.
