Hdhomerun and Router/hub Sharing
Hi
Right now I have my computer and HdHomerun connected via ethernet through a 100Mbit/s netgear router/gateway(it basically acts as a hub). This doesn't have any uplink (internet access is run through the computer's wifi connection). As network storage comes down in price I am contemplating buying some sort of NAS raid device that I can use for archived storage. I'd like to connect it to the local hub, but I am concerned about losing recordings because of network congestion. Has anybody made this work? Thanks! F |

If you are moving large files around while recording over the network, there could be problems. The device that controls the storage should have a GB nic, connected to a GB switch. I also have my HDHR connected to that switch and my Mac that does the moving. Everything else is in the 100 MB part of the network.
Works fine. |
