Anyone using a Mvix MX-760HD?

Just wondering how it stacks up?

you have to love this:

"Except for a couple issues like a noisy fan and no networking features, I really liked this device."

I had actually looked into the 5000 before, but to use it primarily as an external drive to hold all of the kids movies for the Sage. Then, when we took a road trip, I could use the car adapter and hook it into the DVD system in the minivan, or move it to a room in the house that didn't have an MVP, or take the kid video library it to the inlaws.

seems really cool, but I haven't had the cash to shell out for one, yet. It is still $200 for the unit and that doesn't include any HDD.

I'd love to get the networking (to make it a NAS instead of USB-attached) in the 5000 unit, but not have to pay the price for the HD of the new one.

These units all have fairly lousy interfaces. There are a bunch of them with basically the same firmware. You won't be able to keep metadata, file information, etc. You'll just get a long list of file names.
