MyBlaster IR transmitter with Sage
On another topic...
I haven't been able to find any postings regarding the MyBlaster IR transmitter (www.my.tv), and getting it working through Sage. The my.tv site says that it works with Sage, but was interested in hearing from people regarding anything I should look out for. I just got the MyBlaster in the mail today, so I haven't actually been able to initially test it yet. Thanks |

Well, I guess there wasn't as much need for this thread as I had thought..LOL.
But for those of you who are interested, I got my MyBlaster setup and working last night, and thought I would let you know that it does end up working...but: First, Sage doesn't recognize it out of the box. I ran the set up a few times, and when I got to the infrared tranceiver setup part, it would only want to set up an Actisys 200L. So, I looked at the HERemote website, which is the software that comes with the MyBlaster (www.tvscheduler.net), and it has instructions to set it up with Sage. In the HERemote help section of the software, there is a place where you can configure it to work with either Sage, Snapstream, or Showshifter. Once I ran through it for Sage, I went back to the Sage setup, and this time, Sage recognized it, and all was well. Even though it does work, I have to say that it isn't seemless. There is some lag between the time you enter in a remote command and the time it takes for the sat receiver to get it and execute it. So you see the channel change in Sage, but the channel actually displayed on the screen is still the old channel, until a couple of seconds pass until the sat receiver changes. I will try to see if there is anyway to get this working a little faster. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks |

Look under IR Hardware in Detailed Setup. There are some IR settings there for the delay before and in between sending IR signals.
I've never been able to make the inter-button stick (it just resets after restart) but setting the inter-sequence delay lower makes a huge difference. Jeff has posted that you can make the inter-button delay stick by entering it in the IR files for your receiver (under ...\Frey Technologies\Common Files\), but I've never had the patience to figure out what the numbers were. Also someone claimed you can speed things up by setting the transfer rate for your COM port to 115, 200 baud, I've never understood that since we're not exactly talking about a huge amount of data, but it's worth trying. |

Thanks for the advice...I did see that section for IRHardware, but I haven't actually played with the settings. I will give that a try.
Thanks again |
