High CPU usage and SageTV freezes

This is more of an FYI than anything since I ran into this yesterday and thought the community might be interested in what happened.

I was watching live tv and had switched to channel 3. Upon attempting to display channel 3 sage barfed and I got the loading icon, a frozen picture, and no audio. The loading icon (the little wheel that spins to show it's processing) just kept going and going. I used the task manager to force quit out of sageTV and closed the SageTVService process. I noticed at this point that the Sage Service was using 50% 0f my CPU and ShowAnalyzer was using the other 50%.

I rebooted to start anew and when my machine came to, the Sage UI didn't load on start like it's set to. I checked the task manager and found the service running and like before, both the service process and ShowAnalzer were running at 50% each. Nothing else would load as normal since the processor was being maxed. I remember reading something from Joe123 about transcoder issues and having to remove corrupted movies to fix his problem. The next thought was this happened just after I had video issues loading a TV show.

I shut down all the processes again, had to remove my properties files in order to get the Sage UI to load. Once loaded and I had gone through the setup I went to the Video menu to see if it still saw all my backed up DVD's. Since I hadn't changed the video path it didn't but what it did show me was a thumbnail of a a TV clip (the last thing I saw on channel 3 when it tried to load and froze). There was my corrupted video file. Show analyzer was barfing because it knew I had a video file to process but it couldn't process it because it was a corrupted clip. So I deleted the clip and rebooted the machine.

On startup everything loaded fine, processes normal, UI loaded on startup, and all is well in the PVR world again.

Oh right, I'm doing all this with ver. 6.1.9. I had also tried the Narflex fix of rolling back to 6.0.19 and then going back to 6.1.9 but copied the sage.exe file from 6.0.19. That didn't do anything for me in this case.

In retrospect, rather than removing the properties files I could probably just have looked in the video directory and removed the clip via windows explorer. No clip no problem.

Hope this helps others.
